How to load fishing spots into the Navionics Boating app

Checked

Fish Scouter works with the Navionics Boating app. Your saved spots go out as one standard GPX waypoint file, with short plain names, the kind of spot and its depth.

From your phone

  1. In Fish Scouter open You → Spots → My spots and tap Send to my fish finder. Choose Navionics.
  2. Pick Navionics Boating in the share sheet if it's offered, and import the file.
  3. Use Plotter Sync to move the spots to a Raymarine or other compatible chartplotter. Garmin units can take them through ActiveCaptain.

What we've confirmed

Nothing on this page is confirmed in Navionics's own documents yet. The steps come from dealer guides and owners' reports.

Check your unit's manual

  • Whether Navionics Boating appears in the share sheet for a GPX file, and where its import lives in the menus, isn't confirmed — check Navionics' help pages.
  • Plotter Sync needs a Navionics subscription on both the chart card and the app.
  • Menu names change between app versions — check Navionics' help pages.

Questions anglers ask

Can I put Fish Scouter spots on my Navionics?

Yes. Fish Scouter writes a standard GPX 1.1 waypoint file, which works with the Navionics Boating app.

Will my spot names fit?

Fish Scouter cuts names to 15 characters in plain letters and numbers, and numbers any that match ("Bull Bay Reef 2"). That's a safe length, not a limit Navionics publishes, so your unit may take longer names.

Does the depth come across?

Each spot's depth is written in its description, because not every unit reads depth from a GPX file.

Which plans include it?

Sending spots to your fish finder comes with the Captain and Guide plans. Your spots stay private either way.
